🌍 The 5 Destinations

1. Alaska — 10+ Days

Alaska in summer means 18-20 hours of daylight, peak wildlife activity, accessible trails, and the kind of big-sky, frontier-feeling adventure that’s hard to find anywhere else. Dog sledding, Kenai Fjords boat tours, Lake Clark bear viewing, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center are all highlights. Budget at least 10 days, ideally closer to two weeks.

2. Iceland — 10–11 Days

July and August in Iceland means cool temperatures (typically 50s–60s F), dramatic landscapes, and the midnight sun. The ring road is endlessly scenic and very manageable as a family road trip. Private glacier hikes, whale watching in Húsavík, and the waterfalls of the South Coast are all family highlights. Iceland is expensive but very doable on points for flights and accommodations.

3. New York State + Canada Road Trip — 2 Weeks

A surprisingly diverse road trip: start in the Finger Lakes region, then head north through the Adirondacks, cross into Quebec City (one of the most charming cities in North America), then swing west through Montreal and Toronto, with a stop at Niagara Falls. Two weeks is ideal; it can be compressed to 10 days if needed.

4. Michigan Road Trip — 10 Days

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is genuinely stunning and wildly underrated. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island (car-free, kids love it), and the dunes of Sleeping Bear are all highlights. Summers are comfortable, the driving distances are manageable, and it’s a fraction of the cost of international travel.

5. Australia — 3–4 Weeks (Their Winter)

Australia’s winter (June–August) is the best time to visit the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland — lower humidity, comfortable temperatures, and calmer seas. It’s a long haul from the US, which is why 3–4 weeks makes sense to justify the journey. Flights on points are achievable through several programs.
